Hardscaping equipment financing

Patios, walls, walkways, and outdoor kitchens need base prep and precise cuts. Here is how financing the support equipment fits in.

Compaction is the step that keeps pavers from settling. Illustrative photo; generic equipment.

Hardscape crews rely on more than one machine: compact or articulated loaders to move pallets, plate and roller compactors for base, trenchers for drainage and lighting, and block saws.

Smaller items can sometimes be bundled on one invoice with a bigger machine. Lenders look at the total and the main machine — it helps to keep the quote organized.

Budget

What it really costs

Ranges are general market ranges, not quotes.

Compact loader

Often about $45,000–$130,000 for compact wheel and articulated loaders.

Compactors

Plate compactors from a few thousand dollars; ride-on rollers much more.

Trenchers

Walk-behind to ride-on, often $8,000–$60,000.

New vs. used

How the choice changes financing

new

  • Warranty
  • Bundled quotes

used

  • Compactors and saws wear quickly

Field tips

Before you sign anything

  • Bundle small items with a main machine when the same dealer sells both.
  • Rent rarely used items instead of financing them.
